In a tragic incident, Comrade Ifeanyi Azuazu, the president of the Omoku Youth Federation, was reportedly murdered by gunmen presumed to be cultists in Rivers State on Thursday evening, February 5. The attack occurred at a popular bar located on Ogolo Street, off Palace Road in Omoku, specifically within the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area.
The assailants, approximately seven in number, arrived in two vehicles and confronted the Youth President, demanding that he enter their car. Attempts from his aide, Chigozie Oluwu, to intervene resulted in him being shot at close range, leading to his immediate death.
The scene caused chaos, prompting bystanders and local residents to flee for safety, while some merchants quickly shut down their shops in response to the unfolding violence.
On the afternoon of February 6, both the police and operatives from the ONELGA Security and Planning Advisory Committee (OSPAC) located the headless remains of Ifeanyi Azuazu in a nearby forest in Omuku.
CSP Grace Iringe Koko, the Public Relations Officer for the Rivers State Police Command, verified the murder of Chigozie Oluwu and detailed the abduction and subsequent beheading of Omoku's youth president, Ifeanyi Azuazu. She emphasized that the incident is linked to cult activity, and the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, has initiated a comprehensive investigation aimed at apprehending those responsible for these heinous acts.
