In a commendable initiative, Governor Dauda Lawal has sanctioned a 50% reduction in hospital service fees for persons with disabilities (PWDs) within all government-operated health facilities throughout Zamfara State.
This announcement was made public by the state's Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nafisa Maradun, during a briefing held in Gusau on Saturday.
Dr. Maradun described this reduction as a landmark achievement in the state government's ongoing efforts to foster inclusive healthcare and extend social protection to vulnerable sections of society.
She emphasized that this decision reflects Governor Lawal’s dedication to ensuring that every resident, particularly those with disabilities, has fair access to necessary healthcare services.
Dr. Maradun highlighted that the policy is set to alleviate the financial strain on persons with disabilities, allowing them to seek timely and quality medical care without excessive economic hardship. She encouraged these individuals to seize this opportunity to access crucial medical services as required.
Moreover, the commissioner indicated that the Zamfara State Ministry of Health will collaborate closely with all public health institutions to ensure the thorough application of this directive state-wide.
Dr. Maradun expressed confidence that this initiative will likely enhance healthcare utilization among persons with disabilities and further advance the state’s commitment to affordable, inclusive healthcare for all citizens.
This policy aligns with Governor Dauda Lawal’s Rescue Mission agenda, which prioritizes advancements in healthcare delivery and seeks to guarantee that no segment of the population is overlooked.
