The Zamfara State Ministry of Health has finalized arrangements to disburse medical supplies amounting to more than ₦1.5 billion to health institutions throughout the state.

She explained that the allocation of these supplies would be determined by the specific requirements of each facility, aiming to ensure their efficient and effective use.

The range of supplies includes vital medications, consumables, maternal and newborn care kits (MAMA kits), and medical equipment.

Commissioner Maradun stated that this initiative is a direct consequence of the state government's recent declaration of an emergency within the health sector.

She highlighted that this action aligns with Governor Dauda Lawal's overarching objective to significantly decrease the rates of maternal and infant mortality within Zamfara.

Furthermore, she issued a stern warning against any misappropriation or diversion of these essential items.

"Any individual found to be involved in the diversion of these commodities will face severe penalties," she declared.

The commissioner also took the opportunity to express gratitude for the collaborative support received from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other development partners, acknowledging their contributions to enhancing healthcare services in the state.
