A young man has been expelled from Ohatekwe Ukawu in the Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State after allegedly killing his mother.
Reports indicate that Damian Oforbuike, 20, attacked his mother, Onyemaechi, with a machete over the weekend before fleeing into a nearby jungle.
The local youths managed to track him down in the forest where he was hiding and captured him.
After apprehension, he was publicly paraded through the community by the youths and subsequently banished, receiving a stern warning against returning.
In a viral video, while being showcased, he confessed to the act, stating that his mother’s refusal to bathe him and her denial of funds to establish a barbing salon for his brother who had finished apprenticeship motivated his actions.
“I killed my mother because she refused to bathe me and also wouldn’t rent a shop for my brother who learned barbing and required money to get started,” he explained.
Maduabuchi Nweke, the councillor for the area, confirmed the occurrence, noting that he rounded up over 200 youths who searched the forest and detained the suspect.
He further stated that the suspect has been handed over to the police for additional investigation.
The body of the deceased has been taken to a morgue for preservation.
