Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who previously served as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that individuals who assume Northern Nigeria will not vote to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 are making a serious miscalculation.

Ganduje made this remark on Friday in Abuja during a courtesy call from Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders representing the 19 Northern states, in honor of his appointment as the patron of the Forum.

The former governor of Kano State emphasized that there are no superior candidates from Southern Nigeria who can lead Nigeria beyond 2027 than Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He expressed that Nigeria is fortunate to have a politician like Bola Tinubu serving as President, emphasizing his deep commitment to the unity of the country. He noted Tinubu's past struggles, including his exile for the sake of democracy in Nigeria.

Ganduje mentioned: "In terms of the upcoming 2027 elections, anyone believing that the North will support a different candidate other than Asiwaju Tinubu is mistaken. This is Nigeria's first opportunity to have a true politician in the presidency."

He added that even before the late President Muhammadu Buhari's election, there was an understanding that after his eight years in office, a Southerner would take over.

"Asiwaju has been in office for less than four years, and we have already witnessed his economic reforms and the steps he has taken to enhance the country’s socio-economic development," Ganduje stated.

He highlighted Tinubu's determination to eliminate fuel subsidies, clarifying that despite many candidates pledging to do so, it was Tinubu who had the courage to implement this crucial change. He remarked that as a result, governors across the political spectrum are now receiving increased funding for development.

Ganduje assured the Northern Youth Leaders of his support for their initiative, praising their commitment to mobilize votes and raise funds for Tinubu’s re-election.

He expressed gratitude for their efforts, saying, "From raising funds to applying your energy and intellect in support of Asiwaju's reelection, your dedication is commendable."

National Leader Murtala Muhammad Gamji, who spoke earlier at the event, lauded Ganduje as a role model and credited him with uplifting youth leaders during his governorship.

"We are here to affirm our support for the reelection of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, mobilizing all youth across the 19 Northern states and funding his nomination form ahead of the elections."

Gamji concluded by rejecting notions that the North would not support Tinubu, asserting, "No leader has provided as much support to us in the North as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu."

During the gathering, Ganduje was formally recognized as the Grand Patron of the Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders Forum.
