A 21-year-old woman in South Korea is facing two murder charges for allegedly causing the deaths of two men by drugging them. Investigations reveal that she conducted online searches related to the combination of sleeping pills and alcohol before these incidents took place.

The suspect, known only by her surname, Kim, is accused of murdering two men in their twenties in separate encounters at motels in Seoul earlier this year.

According to police reports, the first alleged incident transpired on January 28 when Kim checked into a motel with a man, only to leave approximately two hours later. The next day, the man was discovered dead. On February 9, she reportedly entered another motel with a different man, who also died under similar conditions shortly thereafter.

Post-mortem examinations indicated the presence of high levels of various drugs in the bodies of both victims. Kim was apprehended on February 11 on suspicion of murder. During her interrogation, she confessed to adding benzodiazepine-based sedatives to the men's beverages, although she refuted any intention to kill them.

A further investigation of her mobile device uncovered multiple online inquiries about the consequences of mixing sleeping pills with alcohol, with specific questions such as, “What happens if you take sleeping pills with alcohol?”, “How much would be dangerous?” and “Could someone die?”

A police source commented, “She posed these questions repeatedly and obtained answers, indicating she was fully aware that combining alcohol and drugs could be fatal.”

Authorities are also investigating a previous incident dating back to December, wherein Kim allegedly spiked her ex-boyfriend's drink in a café parking lot in Namyangju, leading him to lose consciousness for two days. He later reported this episode to the police.

Investigators suspect that following the initial failed attempt, Kim may have altered the dosage for the later incidents. On the day the second victim passed away, Kim is said to have shared a selfie on social media, using hashtags that suggested she might be seeking new contacts.

Local news outlets have reported that Kim has a history of mental health issues. Law enforcement is currently exploring the possibility of additional victims and awaits psychological evaluations as the investigation continues.
