The Kano State Police Command has launched an inquiry into the suspected suicide of a man named Mubarak Hamisu, aged 28, in the Gyadi-Gyadi district of Tarauni Local Government Area.

He mentioned that the report was relayed to the police by the Divisional Police Officer in Tarauni around 6:10 a.m., based on notifications from residents of Ja’oji Quarters, Gyadi-Gyadi.

He clarified that no visible signs of violence were identified on the body. The individual was transported to the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, where medical authorities pronounced him dead.

According to the police spokesperson, the remains have been released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic customs. He assured that investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing, with updates to follow as new information emerges.

Commenting on the event, Muhammad Ghali Abdulwahab, an uncle of the deceased, expressed sorrow over the tragic incident. He recounted receiving a phone call about his nephew being found hanging, prompting him to rush to the scene. Upon arrival at the hospital, they learned that he had passed.

Abdulwahab stated, “We went to the police station to file our account and returned home thereafter. At 28 years old, we are perplexed about what transpired. His grandmother shared that he returned home on a friend’s bicycle the previous night and later left. She did not see him until this morning.”

The family remains uncertain about the circumstances, with Abdulwahab indicating that they do not believe he took his own life. He noted that the police had pointed out a mark on his neck and inquired if there had been any past suicide attempts, to which they replied they were unaware of any such incidents. However, upon preparing the body for burial, they observed the mark themselves.

“A family member mentioned he had previously seen the mark. When questioned about it, Dan did not provide any explanation, suggesting that there may have been an earlier troubling incident concerning him.”

“For now, we are not blaming anyone and are cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies as they investigate to ascertain the facts of the situation.”
