A 31-year-old man has killed his 24-year-old wife and taken his own life in an incident that occurred in the village of Kilibwoni, located in Nandi County, Kenya.
According to local police and eyewitnesses, Duncan Kimaru first attacked his spouse, Hardlight Jelegat, inflicting fatal wounds by slashing her head and cutting her throat. This violent act was said to have followed a domestic dispute that transpired at their residence on the night of Monday, February 9, 2026.
Witnesses reported that after leaving his wife's body inside the house, Kimaru made his way to a nearby dam, where he drowned himself.
His body was later retrieved from the dam well after the incident occurred. Both bodies have been transported to the morgue, awaiting autopsies and other necessary procedures.
Law enforcement authorities announced they are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic event, noting that the couple had been known to have frequent domestic disagreements.
The weapon used in the murder has been recovered at the site. Police are conducting a thorough examination of the case, focusing on the aspects of murder and suicide.
