Nigerian comedian Abiodun Ayoyinka has declared a pivotal change in his career by retiring his long-held persona, 'Papa Ajasco,' and adopting a new name, 'Bondu Alaska,' amid an ongoing trademark conflict.

Ayoyinka announced this transformation in a video posted on Instagram, explaining that the decision to rebrand was influenced by complications regarding the commercial use of the 'Papa Ajasco' name, which is registered to producer Wale Adenuga.

The announcement follows Ayoyinka's recent comments expressing difficulties in monetizing the beloved character due to the existing trademark limitations established by Wale Adenuga Productions.

Furthermore, the actor shared his personal challenges, admitting that he has faced financial hardships in recent years.

In response, Adenuga stated that while Ayoyinka is restricted from independently utilizing the 'Papa Ajasco' name for business ventures, he is allowed to partake in commercials with approval from Wale Adenuga Productions.

Adenuga characterized Ayoyinka's previous claims as mere 'public comedy performance' and a distortion of the situation, suggesting the actor might be manipulating social media for financial benefits.

Despite their differences, Adenuga reassured that his relationship with Ayoyinka remains amicable.

Ayoyinka became well-known for his role in the long-standing series 'Papa Ajasco & Company,' which originated from the 1984 film created and directed by Wale Adenuga.

This rebranding represents a new chapter for Ayoyinka as he strives to reinvent his public image beyond one of Nigeria's most renowned comedic figures.
