One individual recounted a conversation during which several participants expressed their frustrations and intentions to leave their home countries. According to the account, a man who had remained silent for most of the discussion later inquired if anyone had ever made the journey from Libya to Europe or dealt with extreme dehydration, to the point of having to drink their urine. His questioning reportedly shifted the atmosphere from one of complaints to a stunned silence.
The man subsequently shared that having survived such harsh circumstances, he now perceives his current life as a second opportunity and has no plans to leave, despite the adversity he faces.
In response, other users on X contributed their own stories pertaining to the same perilous route. One person reported witnessing individuals succumb to sunstroke in the desert, mentioning that survivors often bear profound trauma from the experiences they endured along the journey.
Another user remarked that the migration route is harsh for all, irrespective of gender, and suggested that many who traveled through Libya by road might be grappling with unresolved psychological trauma. They emphasized that the price of survival is often a significant mental toll.
