How We Met

By the bride, Adebola:

We met during our second year at university between 2013 and 2014. I walked into class late, being the last student to arrive. Upon entering, he was quick to notice me and later expressed to a friend, “OMG, who is that girl?” Simultaneously, I saw Christian and texted a friend saying, “There’s a really cute guy in my class!” At the time, group projects had already been assigned. When the lecturer told me to join any group since I was late, I added myself to a group without any thought, only to discover it was his group. Accordingly, we began working together, but nothing significant occurred then. He added me on almost every social media platform, yet we didn’t communicate much as life moved forward.

Fast forward to our fourth year (2015-2016), we ended up in the same class again. Our smiles when we met were unforgettable, and from that day onwards, he always reserved a seat next to him for me. I reminisced to that same friend: “Guess who I ran into again? The cute guy from the previous year!” During this time, our communications grew more casual and comfortable; there was no rush. Eventually, with some encouragement from his friends, he initiated a conversation with me using a class question as a means to say hello. He later confided in me that from the moment he saw me in the second year, he instinctively knew I would be his wife.

After graduating in 2016, we officially started dating. It felt seamless and perfectly timed. While we dated for a few years, we also took time apart, but we never truly exited each other’s lives. With personal growth and understanding, we found our way back together, realizing it was always meant to be. This beautiful journey led us back to Nigeria, where we joyfully celebrated our traditional wedding in November 2025, grateful that this love story, which began quietly in that classroom, has now come full circle.
