Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu boldly asserted on Thursday, March 5, that President Bola Tinubu's chances in the upcoming 2027 presidential election are already diminished.

Yesufu expressed that Tinubu's efforts to recruit governors into the All Progressives Congress (APC) signifies a significant loss of credibility regarding his ability to secure victories in the election scheduled for January 16, 2027.

Her comments were made during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

"Bola Tinubu has already lost; that’s why he is actively seeking governors to create a façade of power. There was a time when the PDP boasted over twenty governors, yet that did not prevent them from losing when the time came," she stated.

Yesufu pointed out that the lack of public engagement with the APC was evident during the registration phase, where interest from citizens was notably absent. In contrast, she highlighted the enthusiasm around the ADC party as evidence of shifting political sentiments.

The activist further lamented the prevailing economic hardships and security challenges facing Nigeria, describing the current state as a "glitch" where governance appears to be non-existent.

"At this moment, Nigeria itself is a glitch. There is nothing functioning properly, whether in terms of the economy or security; all sectors are failing. People are being kidnapped, lives are lost, and armed groups are brazenly displaying their threats. Nigeria is effectively at a standstill, devoid of governance and progress," she added.
