The 21-year-old YouTuber made this statement on Wednesday while partaking in his 'Speed Does Africa' tour in Lagos, which will span 28 days and include visits to 20 different countries. The journey commenced in Angola on December 29, 2025.
IShowSpeed, who arrived in Lagos on his 21st birthday, engaged in various cultural experiences, such as donning traditional Yoruba attire and enjoying jollof rice at Freedom Park.
In the comparison of jollof rice, the streamer boldly stated that Nigerian jollof rice surpasses Senegalese versions in taste, mentioning his recent trip to Senegal where he participated in the AFCON trophy parade.
“Nigerian jollof rice is excellent. It surpasses Senegalese jollof rice. I would have to choose Nigeria when considering which nation offers the finest jollof rice,” he declared.
His presence in Nigeria also coincided with a significant milestone, as his YouTube channel achieved over 50 million subscribers while he was live streaming amidst Lagos traffic, making him the first Black individual creator to reach this landmark.
Local TikTok streamer Habeeb Hamzat, also known as Peller, made several attempts to meet IShowSpeed by following his convoy on foot and on horseback, but the streamer did not react to these encounters.
Skit creator Egungun of Lagos had a brief interaction with the streamer, commending IShowSpeed’s physique and inquiring about his signature “wooo wooo” bark imitation.
Afrobeats artist Zlatan Ibile surprised IShowSpeed with a birthday cake at the ZTTW store, which the streamer revealed was his first authentic birthday cake.
During a FaceTime call from Paris, singer Davido joined the celebration and inquired about IShowSpeed’s thoughts on Nigeria. “Nigeria has been fantastic. I am staying another day,” he responded.
TikTok creator Jarvis also attended a birthday party held at night, appearing as her robot character, which thrilled IShowSpeed.
