Nollywood star Angela Okorie has come forward with a public apology directed at her fellow actress, Mercy Johnson Okojie.
This comes after Okorie's arrest on January 27 by the Nigeria Police Force's Cybercrime Center in Abuja, occurring at her residence in Lagos. She faced allegations of cyberbullying against Johnson.
Subsequently, she was transported to Abuja, where on January 29, she was arraigned in the Federal High Court and later held at Suleja Prison. The court granted her bail set at N5 million the following day, January 30, which she secured by February 3.
In an emotional video message released online, Angela Okorie extended her apologies to Mercy Johnson for the offensive remarks she made previously and advocated for a harmonious relationship between them.
Okorie noted that she and Johnson have since communicated with each other.
She stated, "This video is particularly for Mercy, her children, and her family. I acknowledge that I am not without faults, and I apologize. If my words or anything I've posted caused hurt when your name came up on social media, I am truly sorry."
"You are not a wicked person as others might call you. My aim is to foster peace. Our children might grow to be friends someday, and as mothers, we cannot prevent that from happening. I do not support bullying, and I sincerely apologize for anything I may have said or done to you, whether intentionally or unintentionally. This marks a fresh start. You are my friend, and I will disregard any negative gossip about you in the future. I care for you, and I pray that God blesses and elevates you," she continued.
