A 26-year-old Nigerian named Afeez Olatunji Adewale has been extradited from Nigeria to the United States to respond to accusations related to sexual extortion and the death of a 20-year-old individual, Jack Sullivan, within the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
This development was announced by U.S. Attorney David Metcalf through a press release from the Department of Justice on February 18, 2026.
Adewale faces an indictment that includes charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. He made his initial appearance in the Philadelphia federal magistrate court on Wednesday afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Lynne A. Sitarski.
His apprehension occurred in Nigeria on August 17, 2023, during an extensive operation involving the FBI targeting sexual extortionists preying on minors in the United States.
Adewale was officially extradited to the U.S. on Friday, February 13, 2026, facilitated by the Justice Department's Office of International Affairs, the FBI’s Legal Attaché in Abuja, and the FBI, who subsequently took him into their custody.
According to the statement, "The cooperation of Nigerian security agencies was crucial for this operation, particularly the input of Nigeria’s Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the International Criminal Justice Cooperation Department of the Federal Ministry of Justice, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission."
Adewale’s co-defendants, identified as Imoleayo Samuel Aina, who is also known as “Alice Dave,” aged 27, and Samuel Olasunkanmi Abiodun, aged 26, were previously extradited to the U.S. in August 2024.
Abiodun has pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit money laundering and wire fraud, receiving a five-year prison sentence from United States District Judge Joel H. Slomsky in June 2025.
Meanwhile, Aina has also pleaded guilty to charges including cyberstalking, making interstate threats to harm reputation, receiving proceeds from extortion, conspiracy to launder money, and wire fraud, leading to a six-year prison term imposed by Judge Slomsky in October 2025.
This case is being investigated by the FBI Philadelphia’s Fort Washington Resident Agency along with the Abington Township Police Department, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Patrick Brown.
It's important to note that the charges and allegations mentioned in the indictment are preliminary accusations. Every defendant is entitled to presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law.
