Anthony Joshua, renowned boxer, acclaimed author JK Rowling, and footballer Mo Salah have made it to the list of the UK's top 100 taxpayers.

Topping the list for the first time are billionaire siblings Fred and Peter Done, founders of the Betfred betting company. They contributed an impressive £400.1 million in taxes over the last year, significantly rising from £273.4 million reported the previous year.

Following closely is financial investor Alex Gerko in second place, with a tax payment of £331.4 million, while hedge fund manager Chris Rokos is third, having paid £330 million.

Popular singer Harry Styles made his debut in the ranking at position 54, contributing £24.7 million in taxes. Business mogul Mike Ashley ranked ninth on the list with £175 million, with other notable figures like Sir James Dyson and Nik Storonsky, the co-founder of the financial technology firm Revolut, also featured.

Additionally, two footballers were introduced to the list for the first time: Erling Haaland from Manchester City is in 72nd place with an estimated tax of £16.9 million, while Liverpool's Mo Salah follows closely at 81st with a tax bill of £14.5 million.

Haaland, just 25 years old, holds the distinction of being the youngest individual in the tax rankings. JK Rowling stands at 36th with a contribution of £47.5 million, and musician Ed Sheeran is 64th with a payment of £19.9 million. Boxer Anthony Joshua rounds out the list at the 100th spot, having contributed £11 million.

Notably, Wetherspoons founder Sir Tim Martin is in eighth place with a tax payment of £199.7 million.

The compilation of these top taxpayers illustrates that they collectively contributed £5.758 billion in taxes, an increase from last year’s total of £4.985 billion. Many individuals on this list, including the Done brothers, saw their tax payments rise due to adjustments in government corporation tax and other levies aimed at financing enhanced welfare programs.

Robert Watts, who created the list, remarked, "This list is becoming increasingly diverse, featuring Premier League players and globally recognized pop singers alongside aristocrats and entrepreneurs in various industries. This year, the total tax identified has drastically increased, primarily due to elevated corporation tax rates."
