Senator Salisu Afolabi Shuib, representing the Ogun Central Senatorial District, has advocated for the All Progressives Congress (APC) statewide e-registration of its members. He described the initiative as a significant asset to create a reliable membership database and to help prevent duplication.
Speaking during his membership renewal at Odeda Local Government, he dismissed allegations of digital fraud put forth by Comrade Abayomi Arabambi, a Labour Party leader.
Salisu stated, "You can label something as digital fraud only if you have an obligation to be a part of it. They should focus their efforts on discovering whether they still have a party and work towards reconciling their differences."
He added, "A ruling party is striving to uphold the mandate given by the people, and we are committed to this. If Nigerians are conducting a national census, why should a Ghanaian be concerned about the legitimacy of that process? If you claim the APC exercise is fraudulent, then go ahead and conduct your own."
The senator emphasized that the APC’s registration process is crucial for protecting Nigeria’s identity and enhancing security, noting the role of technology in verifying membership.
He explained that the registration relies on three pillars: authenticating the identities of Nigerians, emphasizing the importance of digital infrastructure, and representing a strategic move by the APC.
Salisu commended the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Dapo Abiodun, stating that the registration initiative is revolutionizing the political landscape and fortifying democracy through technology.
Additionally, he initiated the rehabilitation project for a 7.5 km abandoned roadway, promising its completion within a month. He remarked, "Fixing this road is not solely about infrastructure; it’s also about enhancing the local economy, supporting farmers, and improving educational outcomes for students."
