The Arewa Discussion Group (ADG) has expressed strong disapproval over the recent increase in terrorist attacks throughout several northern states in Nigeria.

The organization voiced its shock regarding the recent spate of attacks and kidnappings affecting communities in Kwara, Katsina, Kaduna, and other locations within the region.

In a statement released in Ilorin and signed by the ADG's spokesperson, Dr. Garba Abari, on behalf of chairman Alhaji Maisudan Bello, the group emphasized the need for immediate action, stating, "We must move beyond mere words to implementing effective and lasting measures to address insecurity in the area."

Particularly alarming was the incident on February 3, 2026, in Woro and Nuku communities in the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, where reports indicated that over 100 lives were lost, along with the destruction of numerous homes and properties.

The ADG further stated its concern regarding ongoing violence in regions such as Faskari in Katsina and Kajuru in Kaduna states.

It is deemed shameful, according to the group's statement, that local authorities and communities which recently reached an agreement with these criminals, due to perceived failures by state officials, are now enduring such blatant assaults.

"This purported truce has turned out to be a hoax, revealing a naive concession to lawlessness that has only served to embolden the attackers. This approach does not constitute a viable solution but rather represents a neglect of responsibility," the statement highlighted.

The ADG emphasized, "The time for simple condemnations has long passed. While we firmly decry these acts of violence, it’s imperative that we adopt innovative and decisive approaches to eradicate this menace."

They reiterated their call for an urgent and comprehensive reassessment of the region's security framework, reflecting sentiments expressed in previous statements about the need for effective strategies to tackle this growing crisis.
