Seriake Dickson, the former governor of Bayelsa State and senator representing the Bayelsa West constituency, has stated that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is open to receiving politicians who are facing difficulties due to internal conflicts in other political parties. This comes amidst ongoing political turbulence affecting the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Dickson articulated that the NDC is actively positioning itself as a reliable alternative platform for political figures seeking clarity and direction. He characterized the party as being free from internal disputes and legal challenges, thereby offering a stable environment.
The statement from Dickson follows a period of considerable uncertainty surrounding the ADC, which has been contending with internal disagreements and regulatory hurdles impacting its leadership and membership.
"Our party is ready to welcome all Nigerians who feel left behind and desire a change," Dickson asserted.
He further elaborated that the NDC is extending its invitation to politicians who find themselves in a difficult position due to the evolving political landscape in the country, emphasizing the need for a platform that is free from political turmoil.
The NDC, which received its registration from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in February, has commenced the process of establishing its presence across the nation. Dickson officially joined the party on March 5 in Abuja and subsequently launched a digital membership registration system to facilitate its growth.
Describing the party's core principles, Dickson stated, "The NDC is an ideological party committed to a new approach in politics centered on ideas and service." He underscored a departure from politics dominated by individual personalities.
Dickson addressed criticisms directed at the NDC, dismissing them as baseless. "For those who spread misinformation and propaganda, they haven't seen anything yet. The NDC is here to stay and will galvanize support throughout Nigeria," he declared.
Expressing strong conviction in the party's potential, Dickson added, "An idea whose time has come cannot be stopped. The NDC will emerge victorious."
In response to critiques from Umar Ardo, Dickson found them unexpected and clarified that the NDC has no connection to any disputes concerning the Advanced Democratic Alliance (ADA).
"I am aware of the legal challenges he is facing related to disagreements among the promoters of the ADA, and the NDC is not involved in this matter," Dickson stated.
He further clarified that the NDC resumed its registration activities after INEC lifted the embargo on political party registrations, noting that all relevant parties were informed of this development.
