Nigerian Afrobeats artist Ahmed Ololade, widely recognized as Asake, has disclosed his decision to go against his father's wishes in order to follow his passion for music.
During an interview with YouTuber Korty EO, the singer revealed that at the age of 15, he decided to leave his home after his father opposed his aspirations in the music industry.
Asake explained that despite having a close bond with his father, his drive to pursue music prompted him to make the difficult choice to leave.
He remarked, "The father who gave birth to me, he’s more stubborn than I am. So I couldn’t look him in the face." He reminisced about their strong connection during his younger years but reached a point where he yearned to break away to chase his dreams.
"We were close when I was younger, but I came to a time when I wanted to leave home to do what I am doing now, but my father said no. But I just took off regardless. I was 15 then, focused on where I was going, and there was nothing anybody could tell me."
Despite the initial disagreement, Asake emphasized that his respect and love for his father have never waned. He stated, "Even if he points a gun at me, till eternity he will always be my dad, and I will still show him the same love."
The artist also highlighted his admiration for both parents, reaffirming the significance of family in his life.
This revelation has attracted renewed interest in his familial relationships, particularly following recent reports about his father, Fatai Ololade, who had made a public plea for financial aid due to health issues. A video emerged where he expressed feelings of neglect despite his son's rising fame.
The situation garnered considerable attention online, especially after allegations surfaced from a woman named Adijat, claiming that Asake had abandoned her and their child.
Nevertheless, updates indicate progress as Asake reportedly reached out to assist his father. In a subsequent video, Fatai confirmed that Asake had committed to covering his medical costs and providing further support.
In recent weeks, the musician has been seen in viral clips surprising his parents with gifts, including a car for his mother during Ramadan and a 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser for his father.
