Ashleigh Plumptre, a defender for the Super Falcons, has successfully had surgery for a foot injury, as confirmed by her club, Al-Ittihad Ladies.
The player is anticipated to be sidelined for a number of months while she recuperates.
This injury marks the second time the former Leicester City Women player has faced a layoff due to injury since joining Al-Ittihad.
Previously, the 31-year-old endured a significant injury in March 2024, just after a strong beginning to her debut season, during which she netted eight goals in 12 matches. This setback caused her to miss approximately six months.
Additionally, Plumptre was unable to participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris because of fitness issues.
Her main focus now will be on regaining complete fitness in preparation for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations set for July 2026.
