The Australian government has mandated that all non-essential personnel stationed in Israel and the United Arab Emirates evacuate as security conditions in the Middle East continue to decline.

This directive was issued by Australia’s Foreign Minister, Penny Wong, who indicated that the move is crucial given the rapidly worsening security situation in the area. While non-essential staff will be repatriated, essential officials will remain in both countries to assist Australian citizens who may need support.

Additionally, the Australian government has reinforced its travel advisory, advising citizens against traveling to Israel and the UAE, citing concerns that the security situation could deteriorate further.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Wong encouraged Australians in the region to leave while commercial travel options are still operational. "We urge you to leave the Middle East if you can and if it’s safe to do so," she stated. "Don’t wait until it’s too late. It may be the last chance for some time."

Currently, roughly 115,000 Australian nationals are present in the Middle East, and around 2,600 have already returned home since the escalation of regional tensions.
