Four individuals lost their lives in a fire set by armed bandits during an attack on Gwargwabe village in the Nahuce District of Bungudu Local Government Area, Zamfara State. Additionally, several others were injured in this brutal incident.

The local district head, Alhaji Sulaiman Marafa, explained that the bandits retaliated against the village because residents had resisted paying illegal levies, opting to protect their community instead.

The assailants had initially invaded the nearby Karakkai community around 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, firing their weapons and causing widespread panic among the villagers.

In a display of courage, the residents fought back against the bandits, successfully pushing them to withdraw from Karakkai. However, the attackers later redirected their aggression towards Gwargwabe, where they proceeded to set numerous houses ablaze.
