Alec Bohm, who plays third base for the Philadelphia Phillies, has lodged a lawsuit against his parents, asserting they improperly redirected large amounts of his money into accounts they controlled, allegedly using some of those funds for their own expenses.
The legal complaint was submitted on Wednesday, March 24, in a Philadelphia court. This follows Bohm's recent examination of his financial situation, during which he discovered his parents were withholding account information and access from him.
According to the lawsuit, his parents allegedly attempted to exclude him from four accounts set up as limited liability companies. Bohm claims they transferred a considerable portion of his finances from those accounts for their own benefit.
As he sought clarity on his accounts, it was revealed his parents had already moved millions from his personal accounts into the accounts they managed.
In response to the allegations, Bohm’s parents, Daniel and Lisa Bohm, have denied any wrongdoing. Their attorney expressed that they are "profoundly upset" by the claims and plan to defend their actions vigorously. The lawyer, Robert Eckard, also stated that Alec Bohm has had unrestricted access to the accounts in question and noted that they have been covering his expenses through their personal credit cards.
“They love their son dearly and have consistently acted in his best interests, both personally and professionally, and continue to do so,” Eckard remarked.
Following the opening game of the 2026 season, Bohm refrained from addressing the matter, stating, "I’m not going to discuss any personal issues right now."
The complaint reveals that the first of these contested accounts was established in 2019, with his parents asserting they took a 10% management stake, declaring Bohm as the legitimate owner of all assets associated with the LLC.
The lawsuit indicates that these accounts were created for various activities, including investments in securities and real estate, and further alleges that funds from the Alec Bohm Foundation were used to cover their expenses.
Bohm is seeking damages of no less than $3 million, demanding that his parents relinquish control of the accounts and appoint an accountant to track every dollar transferred from his accounts to theirs.
According to the lawsuit, his parents currently reside in a recreational vehicle as they travel across the country.
At 29 years old, Bohm is under a contract worth $10.2 million for the 2026 season with the Phillies.
