On Monday, Hon. Bashir Usman Gorau, the representative of the Gada-Goronyo Federal Constituency in Sokoto State, distributed scholarship grants amounting to N101.4 million to over 2,000 students from his constituency, who are enrolled in various tertiary institutions across the country.
The recipients include students from federal, state, and private universities, which the lawmaker stated contributed to the delay in the distribution process as he aimed for broader inclusivity amongst the beneficiaries.
During the scholarship presentation held at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University auditorium in Sokoto, the lawmaker highlighted the significance of education as a cornerstone of economic growth. He emphasized that all developed nations achieved their status through intentional investments in their human resources.
He remarked, “This initiative is aimed at fostering development and securing the future of our constituency. Every progressing economy globally commenced its journey with a focus on building its human capital. Investment in education, healthcare, and sustainable livelihoods is indispensable for enhancing human resources.”
