Tope Adenibuyan, widely recognized as Teddy A, a participant from Big Brother Naija, recently shared his experiences dealing with unfounded accusations regarding domestic violence against his expectant wife, actress Bamike 'Bambam'.
In a recent discussion on the WithChude podcast, he recounted how a misleading report that circulated on social media accused him of assaulting his wife, even during her pregnancy.
Teddy A explained that the shocking allegations took him completely by surprise. He stated, "When they accused me of beating my wife, it was shocking. I woke up and went downstairs, where I found my wife watching a movie, laughing, and she was pregnant."
He elaborated that the false narrative ignited a wave of online discourse, leaving both him and Bambam bewildered by the origins of these claims.
"Once I checked my phone, my notifications were buzzing. I was puzzled since I hadn’t posted anything trending. I kept asking myself, what was happening? What did I do? What are they saying now?" he recalled.
As he navigated through the various comments, he noted that his wife became emotional, expressing disbelief at the fabrication.
"Honestly, I had no idea. Maybe it’s an ex or some village people trying to target me," he speculated.
Initially, Teddy A was urged to keep quiet about the allegations and let the matter fade away. However, he later regretted that choice, as the falsehoods persisted online, adversely impacting his image.
"I underestimated the potential damage that silence could inflict on my reputation. Even now, when my wife and I share posts, people often question whether I truly do not harm her," he pointed out.
He voiced his frustration, asking, "Why would they make such claims? Why would anyone do that? It affected me deeply because it portrayed a false image of who I am."
