Benue State's Governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has formally renamed the Benue Printing and Publishing Corporation to the Dan Agbese Printing and Publishing Corporation as a tribute to the late Chief Dan Agbese, a distinguished journalist.
This announcement was made public in a statement by the Governor's Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity, and Strategic Communication, Solomon Iorpev, yesterday.
The governor's decision follows a previous announcement made during a live broadcast commemorating Benue State's Golden Jubilee anniversary, intended to immortalize the legacy of Agbese for his significant contributions to journalism and public service.
Governor Alia explained that this decision is aimed at establishing excellence in public communication, preserving Agbese's legacy, and motivating future generations to uphold values of truth, bravery, and professionalism in their work.
The statement indicated that the renaming takes effect without delay and will be reflected in all official documents, communications, legal papers, signage, branding materials, and public mentions. All Ministries, Departments, and Agencies have been instructed to ensure adherence to this directive.
Additionally, Governor Alia emphasized that this honor would bolster responsible journalism, ethical publishing, and intellectual growth within the state, encouraging media professionals, students, writers, and public servants to embody the principles exemplified by the late Dan Agbese.
The governor reaffirmed his administration's commitment to recognizing merit, preserving Benue's cultural heritage, and fostering institutions that mirror the dignity, history, and aspirations of its people.
