Former President Bill Clinton appeared noticeably somber during a stroll through New York City on Tuesday. This sighting comes shortly after he consented to provide testimony before Congress about his alleged associations with Jeffrey Epstein.
The 79-year-old was seen leaving for a business meeting in his first public appearance since the announcement.
Clinton dressed in a dark overcoat, black trousers, and brown shoes, and kept his gaze directed at the ground as he made his way to a building.
His recent decision to testify marks a departure from his previous stance, just days before lawmakers were poised to vote on holding him and others in criminal contempt of Congress.
The former president, along with prior Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, had been defying subpoenas issued by Representative James Comer of Kentucky, the committee’s Republican leader, for several months.
In response to the situation, Donald Trump addressed reporters on the matter, expressing his feelings regarding Clinton's predicament.
'I think it's a shame, to be honest. I always liked him,' Trump remarked about the former president.
Despite having battled Hillary Clinton in the contentious 2016 presidential race, Trump showed a surprising level of respect, stating, 'She is a very capable woman. She was better at debating than many others. I can tell you that. Smart woman. I hate to see it in many ways.'
