Bill Gates has expressed deep regret over all the time he spent with Jeffrey Epstein, despite his former spouse Melinda emphasizing that he still needs to confront certain unresolved issues regarding his connection to the convicted sexual offender.

Recently published documents by the US Justice Department revealed various emails exchanged between prominent individuals and Epstein, showcasing a mix of personal friendships, questionable financial transactions, and private photographs.

Among the released documents, Epstein claimed in a draft email that Gates had engaged in extramarital relations, alleging that their interactions ranged from assisting Gates with drugs needed to cope with liaisons with Russian females to enabling his clandestine affairs with married women.

"Every minute I spent with him, I regret, and I apologize," Gates stated during an interview with 9News Australia that aired on Wednesday.

He further refuted the contents of the email, asserting, "That email was never sent. The email is false. I don’t know what his thinking was there. Was he trying to attack me in some way?"

A spokesperson for Gates echoed this denial following the release of millions of files related to the investigation into Epstein, who took his own life in prison in 2019. The spokesperson remarked, "The only thing these documents showcase is Epstein’s frustration for not having a continuous relationship with Gates and the extremes he would go to entrap and defame."

In an interview with US National Public Radio, Melinda French Gates shared that the recent documents evoked "memories of some very, very painful times in my marriage."

"For me, it’s personally hard whenever those details emerge," she said.

Regarding the lingering questions that may arise from these revelations, she stated, "I can’t even begin to know all of it — those inquiries are for those individuals, including my ex-husband, to answer, not me."

The couple finalized their divorce in 2021.

Gates recounted to 9News that he first met Epstein in 2011 and had several dinners with him over a span of three years, but clarified that he never visited Epstein's Caribbean island and did not engage with women sexually.

“The main focus was his connections with wealthy individuals, claiming he could persuade them to contribute to global health issues. In retrospect, that was a dead end," Gates commented.

The mention of someone's name in the Epstein documents does not imply wrongdoing; however, they have unveiled links between Epstein and numerous public figures who have frequently underestimated or outright denied such associations.
