A devout Catholic knight has announced his decision to renounce his faith, expressing profound dissatisfaction with the church's conduct during the dedication of the Nnewi Catholic Diocese Cathedral. The knight claims the church failed to acknowledge the late Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, a figure he believed was instrumental in the cathedral's establishment.
In a widely circulated video, James Louise Okoye, identified as being from Nnewi, voiced his grievances from within the church premises. He explained that his emotional reaction stemmed from the perceived disrespectful oversight of his late kinsman, Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, during the significant church event.
Okoye questioned the omission, highlighting Ubah's alleged pivotal role in championing and supporting the cathedral's construction prior to his passing. He specifically noted that Ubah was not remembered during the prayers offered for deceased faithful at the Mass.
"Did you hear them say, may the soul of Ifeanyi Ubah rest in peace?" Okoye was heard asking onlookers, emphasizing his disbelief that Ubah's contributions were not recognized during the church's dedication.
He declared his intention to cease attending church services, stating firmly, "I'm done with religion. Last day as a Christian."
Visibly upset, Okoye then extended an apology to the spirit of Ubah, repeatedly uttering in Igbo, "Ifeanyi Ubah, sorry." He reiterated his finality regarding his religious affiliation, confirming, "I'm done with religion."
