Attending a premiere can be memorable, but Chioma Ikokwu, famously known as Chioma Good Hair, transformed the red carpet into a showcase of personal artistry at the Lagos premiere of ‘The Return of Arinzo’. Her debut performance was further highlighted by three carefully curated outfits that embraced the theme of ‘President and First Lady’, exuding cultural richness and design sophistication.
Styled by Ayams Styles, Chioma's outfits for the evening were a demonstration of stunning structure and narrative depth.
Her opening look was a striking presentation of texture in a custom Sevon Dejana deep burgundy velvet gown. This structured dress featured a corset top and a voluminous skirt with a dramatic train that captured attention. Photographed by Ayo Makinwa, the gown’s fabric was embellished with gold and burgundy crystal beads.
The off-shoulder design transitioned into sharp sculptural wings at the shoulders, artfully framing her figure and giving a regal aura. Delicate leaf and branch motifs were artistically woven into the velvet, lending a painterly feel to the gown. A prominent crystal choker elevated its elegance, complemented by long, flared sleeves for a look that conveyed both majesty and strength.
For her second ensemble, Chioma embraced a traditional ‘First Lady’ aesthetic with an impressive gown by Nigerian designer Amy Aghomi. This piece was inspired by Cameroonian cultural elements, featuring a dramatic black cape adorned with vibrant botanical and geometric embroidery in shades of red, gold, and green.
Carefully placed cowrie shells bordered the gown, weaving a narrative of cultural significance into the attire. The structured shoulders and high neck contributed to a commanding presence, adorned with a stylish black beret. Taking a moment on social media, Chioma encouraged her followers to inform her about the ‘Toghu’ style, expressing appreciation for the traditional craftsmanship that helped shape her outfit in a short timeframe.
To conclude the evening, Chioma entered a celebratory phase in a stunning, full-length beaded halterneck gown by Djec Fashion. The attire exhibited swirling designs in gold, red, burnt orange, forest green, and silver, artfully flowing around her figure.
The daring deep neckline was set against a fitted silhouette that embraced her form with poise. Green beaded halter neckties drew together the color palette elegantly, while Old Hollywood-inspired waves and drop earrings completed the ensemble with warmth and focus. The gown exuded an air of movement, making it a fitting choice for an actress commemorating her debut.
