A Christian woman residing in Jos, Plateau State, has returned a sum of N1 million that was inadvertently included with goods she purchased. Madam Serah Luca, who operates a small business, discovered the substantial amount of cash hidden within the items bought from a Muslim trader at the Terminus market.

Madam Luca, a resident of Laminga Road, stated that her decision to return the money was driven by her religious convictions, emphasizing that she could not ethically spend or claim funds that did not rightfully belong to her.

She recounted that she made the purchase on a Friday and only realized the money was present when she returned home. Her faith, she explained, prohibits her from keeping what she has not earned through her own labor.

"I am a petty businesswoman. I understand the pain of financial loss. If I were to put such a sum into my business, I believe God would hold me accountable," she remarked.

Abubakar Dola, the trader from whom the money was recovered, expressed his astonishment at Madam Luca's integrity. He mentioned that he had no idea how the money went missing or where it was.

Mr. Dola explained that he is involved in the polythene bag business in Terminus market. He confirmed that Madam Luca bought goods worth N6,000 from him on Friday. Unbeknownst to him, he had mistakenly placed N1 million, intended for a Point of Sale (POS) operator for a transfer, inside a polythene bag that was part of the goods sold.

"I was unaware the money was inside the items she purchased. Three days later, the woman brought the money back to me. I pray that Allah rewards her with more than what she has done for me. I also pray for more individuals like her who fear Allah," he said.

He further expressed his gratitude to Allah for the woman's actions, noting that finding people of such character is rare. Mr. Dola admitted he had already resigned himself to the loss of the money, as he could not fathom how it disappeared and never suspected it was in a customer's purchase.
