Christy Carlson Romano, the esteemed actress recognized for her performance in Disney’s "Even Stevens," disclosed that she has received a positive result from a recent cancer screening.

In a heartfelt Instagram video shared on Tuesday, Romano explained that both she and her husband, Brendon Rooney, opted for screening tests due to the troubling history of cancer in her family. She revealed that, while her mother overcame the disease, her father succumbed to it. Additionally, Romano noted that her maternal grandmother also lost her battle against lung cancer.

Romano mentioned that her husband's screening returned a negative result, whereas hers did not. "Mine did not come back negative," she stated in the emotional video, taking a moment before sharing this significant news.

She detailed that the screening indicates the presence of possible "stageable cancer," and now, a PET scan is needed to investigate further. However, she is experiencing challenges with her insurance provider regarding the scan's approval.

Throughout the video, Romano was visibly emotional as she referred to this period as a "very vulnerable time" in her life. She reflected on the recent losses within the entertainment industry, which have compounded her difficulties in processing her diagnosis.

Romano further recounted a past incident from nearly a year ago when she sustained facial injuries from birdshot while celebrating her birthday with clay pigeon shooting, a moment she had previously shared on her social media platforms.

Rising to fame as Renee “Ren” Stevens alongside Shia LaBeouf in "Even Stevens," Romano has also featured in the Disney Channel movie "Cadet Kelly" opposite Hilary Duff.

While Romano did not provide additional details about her diagnosis, she indicated that she is awaiting further tests that will help guide her next steps.
