Claire Danes recently opened up about the emotional turmoil she faced upon finding out she was pregnant for the third time at the age of 44, expressing that the experience was completely unexpected and overwhelming.

Speaking on the podcast Good Hang with Amy Poehler, the actress described how she contacted her OBGYN while in what she called 'convulsive tears.'

"It was a total meltdown," Danes recounted. "None of this was planned. I had no idea it was biologically achievable. I was 44 years old."

Now 46, the Homeland star gave birth to a daughter in 2023 with her husband, fellow actor Hugh Dancy. They are also parents to two sons: Cyrus, who is 13, and Rowan, who is 7, spaced approximately five years apart.

The actress shared that her previous pregnancy was particularly tough, revealing that she had to go through two cycles of IVF before conceiving Rowan. "Rowan was very hard-earned," she noted.

Danes discussed her unexpected pregnancy in another podcast, SmartLess, where she admitted she initially felt “terrified,” although the outcome has been positive.

Looking back on her feelings at that time, Danes expressed that she grappled with a sense of shame. "I felt naughty — like I had been caught doing something inappropriate," she explained. "It was strange; I felt as if I were crossing boundaries I hadn't realized existed."

Danes and Dancy have been married since 2009. She also has a history with actor Billy Crudup, with whom she maintains a friendly relationship despite their very public breakup years ago.
