Residents from Doma Tafoki Ward in the Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State came together to conduct funeral prayers for the victims of a deadly bandit attack that took place on Wednesday, February 3, 2026.
Reports indicate that at least 20 individuals lost their lives during this horrific incident, which was allegedly perpetrated by armed bandits loyal to the infamous Isiya Kwashen Garwa.
According to police statements, 13 people were confirmed dead as a result of the assault on February 3, 2026. However, local government officials, including Bala Ado, the Chairman of Faskari LGA, reported that the death toll exceeds 20, with many others sustaining injuries and extensive property damage.
During the attack, the assailants set fire to homes and a Golf 3 vehicle.
In response to the violence, troops from Operation FANSAN YANMA, alongside the police and Civilian Watch patrols, reacted promptly by blocking major escape routes to track down the fleeing assailants.
Moreover, the Nigeria Air Force played a significant role in combating the violence, successfully neutralizing 27 armed bandits.
Community members gathered to honor the deceased, who were characterized by locals as innocent civilians who fell victim to the bandit invasion.
At the funeral site, leaders from the community and religious clerics led prayers for the souls of the victims, beseeching Almighty Allah to bestow His mercy upon them and accept them as martyrs.
