The Karu Gbagyi Development Association (KAGBADA), an umbrella organisation for the indigenous people of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has shared its grief over the demise of Chief Daudu Jezhi, the chairman of the Karu Chiefdom Kingmakers.

In a statement released on Sunday, the chairman of KAGBADA, Sumner Shagari Sambo, characterised the late Jezhi, who also bore the traditional title of Adogo of Karu, as a cornerstone of the community and a guardian of its heritage.

He conveyed that the association received the news of Jezhi’s death with profound shock, emphasising that his efforts in preserving and advancing Karu chiefdom would remain indelible.

Sambo referred to the deceased, affectionately known as Baba Salasi, as an individual of integrity and fortitude who devoted his existence to serving his constituents.

"We have lost a father, a mentor, a protector for many, a defender of the community, an FCT mobiliser, and a statesman. Karu will forever acknowledge your sacrifices for our people," Sambo stated.

He further noted that Jezhi consistently upheld the interests of the chiefdom and worked to reinforce its traditional structures.

"Even when others opted for the simpler route, you remained resolute in building and championing Karu until the very end. The memory of the righteous is indeed blessed," he added.

The association offered prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul, acknowledging his death as a significant blow to the community.

Chief Daudu Jezhi reportedly passed away on Saturday following a prolonged illness at his home. He has since been laid to rest in his hometown in Karu, Abuja.
