A legal battle concerning the estate of the late pop artist Aaron Carter has concluded with a Los Angeles court dismissing the claim brought by his mother, Jane Schenck, against his former fiancée, Melanie Martin.

The judge presiding over the Los Angeles County Superior Court denied Schenck's effort to prevent the finalisation of the estate's proceedings. The court's decision stipulated that the estate was unable to meet its financial obligations and consequently ordered that any remaining assets, excluding cash, be transferred to Melanie Martin.

Aaron Carter's mother and ex-fiancée involved in an estate dispute.

Jane Schenck had contended that the trustee managing the estate had underestimated the value of Aaron Carter's royalty earnings. She further alleged that Melanie Martin had illicitly withdrawn a sum of $24,530 from the singer's financial accounts.

Despite these accusations, Schenck indicated in her court submission that Martin was a capable mother to their shared grandson and conceded that her own actions had contributed to the difficult relationship between them. She asserted that her intention was not to harm Martin legally but requested that Martin not be appointed as the trustee for the child's trust.

Melanie Martin countered these claims, asserting that Schenck was misinformed regarding Carter's financial situation. Martin maintained that Carter had previously transferred ownership of his business, "LOVE," to her and pointed out that they had maintained joint bank accounts.

Aaron Carter passed away on November 5, 2022, and the legal proceedings related to his estate have been ongoing since that time.
