Cubana Chiefpriest, a notable social figure, expressed that it would be impossible for him to aid Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of IPOB, in achieving his release if he remains aligned with opposition political factions.

His statement surfaced shortly after social commentator Very Dark Man (VDM) criticized him for his involvement with a pro-Tinubu political support organization.

In a video he shared earlier today, VDM highlighted a meeting that took place with Chiefpriest and members of the support group in the presence of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

VDM characterized Chiefpriest’s support for APC as insincere, recalling a post made by him in November 2025 where he addressed President Tinubu directly. In that post, Chiefpriest warned that the APC would struggle to secure even 10,000 votes in the South East during the 2027 presidential elections if Kanu remained incarcerated. He had explicitly stated that Nnamdi Kanu is regarded as the Supreme Leader of the South East, and that only his freedom could ensure votes for Tinubu in the subsequent election.

VDM questioned what had changed in Chiefpriest's stance, considering that Kanu is still locked up. He insinuated that Chiefpriest, alongside other leaders from the region, has muted their demands for Kanu’s release and are now prioritizing personal ambitions.

In response to the criticism from VDM, Chiefpriest took to his Instagram Stories to assert that assisting Kanu is unfeasible while he is part of the opposition. He affirmed his long-standing membership with APC and noted that he had campaigned for Peter Obi during the last general election in 2023. Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, he declared his intention to support President Tinubu’s re-election bid, while also announcing his ambition to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.
