Anja Ringgren Lovén, a Danish humanitarian, has marked the two-year milestone since her team rescued a malnourished toddler, who had been abandoned and left to perish in Akwa Ibom after being wrongly identified as a witch.

The child, now named Hope, was saved in March 2024, having been discovered in a critical state.

On March 19, 2026, Lovén took to Facebook to share a video showcasing Hope’s journey, describing the past two years as filled with immense joy and warmth.

"It has been two years since we rescued Hope. Two years immersed in Hope's world. Two years of your love and support. Thank you, Hope, for bringing so much joy and brightness wherever you go. Your smile is truly healing. We gave you life, but you gave us even more," Lovén expressed in her post.

Numerous photographs capturing the joyful moments since Hope's rescue were also shared.

The story of Hope’s rescue continues to resonate with many, highlighting the need for compassion and support for vulnerable children in similar circumstances.
