Nigerian music star David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, is now confronting a lawsuit seeking ₦1 billion in damages. The suit alleges that the singer engaged in harassment, cyberbullying, defamation, and issued threats against Mrs. Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah, who represents Sophie Momodu.

A pre-action notice dated February 24, 2026, issued by Punuka Attorneys and Solicitors on behalf of Mrs. Enedah, accuses Davido of initiating a persistent campaign of abuse following court proceedings at the High Court of Lagos State.

The notice, addressed to Adeleke, carries the title: “HARASSMENT, THREATS TO LIFE, CYBERBULLYING, AND DEFAMATION OF MRS. EBELECHUKWU ENEDAH BY MR. DAVID ADEDEJI ADELEKE AND HIS COHORTS – PRE ACTION NOTICE.”

Punika Attorneys stated in the document, "We are Counsel to Mrs. Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah, (hereinafter referred to as ‘Our Client’), on whose unequivocal instruction, we NOTIFY you of her intention to commence legal action against you."

The legal dispute, as outlined in the document, stems from proceedings in Suit No: LD/1587PMC/2024, titled David Adeleke v. Sophia Momodu, before the High Court of Lagos State.

The law firm alleges that during a court hearing on February 12, 2026, Adeleke's behavior was inappropriate for a court setting. The document claims he became aggressive and verbally abusive towards Mrs. Enedah, and his conduct escalated to a point where physical intervention was required to maintain order.

It is further stated that despite a court order for Adeleke to issue an apology in open court, he reportedly failed to comply.

The situation allegedly intensified the next day, February 13, 2026, when an Instagram account, identified as @cutie_juls, is said to have published posts featuring the lawyer’s photograph. These posts allegedly revealed her identity to Davido's substantial online following.

According to the letter, "The consequences were swift and severe. Our Client was immediately subjected to a torrent of abusive text messages, threatening telephone calls, and explicit threats to her safety and the safety of her family."

Furthermore, the firm accuses Adeleke of personally posting on his verified Instagram and X accounts, tagging the lawyer and making what are described as false claims about her professional capability and courtroom conduct.

Among the statements cited as defamatory is: "@belachukwu … I disgraced you in the courtroom ..I was teaching you your work you couldn’t even take it, and then went on to mention My Son .. like I said in the courtroom, I pray you never go through what me and my wife have gone through ever… and u were still smiling smirking .. u are a wicked human being, UR THE WORST LAWYER EVER I BEAT YOU IN COURT! YOU ARE NOT."

The law firm contends that these publications, reportedly seen by over 50 million individuals across various social media platforms, constitute a "deliberate and targeted attack on Mrs. Enedah in the discharge of her professional duties."

They argue that labeling a lawyer of her standing as "THE WORST LAWYER EVER" is not merely an expression of dissatisfaction but a calculated act aimed at destroying her reputation.

The pre-action notice also alleges that Adeleke identified and publicly criticized individuals he believed to be relatives and children of the lawyer, including gospel singer Tosin Bee, thereby exposing them to threats and public ridicule.

Punika Attorneys emphasizes that legal practitioners should be able to perform their duties without facing intimidation, harassment, or manufactured public hostility, noting that cases involving child welfare are not appropriate for public discussion, sensationalism, or social media attention.

The firm's demands include an immediate cessation of any further commentary by Adeleke on the matter while the court case is ongoing.

They also require him to issue a clear public statement across all his verified social media platforms, including Instagram and X, retracting all previous derogatory, defamatory, and abusive remarks and apologizing for the distress caused.

Additionally, the firm insists that Adeleke publish a formal written apology to Mrs. Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah, specifically tagging her online handle, retracting the defamatory statements and cyberbullying actions against her. This apology is to be posted on all his verified platforms and appear in at least two major national daily newspapers in Nigeria.

The pre-action notice serves as a precursor to legal proceedings, indicating the claimant's intention to pursue the ₦1 billion in damages for alleged reputational and emotional harm if these demands are not met.
