Dele Momodu, who has previously contended for the presidency, stated that President Bola Tinubu is likely to lose the upcoming 2027 elections if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar teams up with a notable southern figure such as Peter Obi or Rotimi Amaechi.

Speaking on Channels TV on Sunday, March 15, Momodu expressed that a coalition between the North and South centered around Atiku's candidacy would significantly undermine the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Momodu remarked, “I believe if we have a combination of Atiku, alongside either Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, or any other southern candidate, it would spell the end for Tinubu. It would be the end of Tinubu’s base, rather than a setback for the APC.”

Atiku, Obi, and Amaechi, who each participated in the 2023 presidential race on different party platforms, have now come together under the Alliance for Democratic Change (ADC) to challenge President Tinubu. They are all set to contest for the presidency in 2027.

The ADC has announced that its national convention will take place on April 14, 2026, after local and state congresses that are scheduled to begin on April 7.
