A physician has alleged that Jeffrey Epstein was not hanged in his prison cell but rather strangled.
Dr. Michael Baden, who attended the post-mortem examination, is advocating for a fresh investigation into the circumstances surrounding Epstein's death, which occurred almost seven years ago, when he was found unresponsive in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center on August 10, 2019.
The forensic expert expressed skepticism regarding the conclusion reached by the New York Medical Examiner's Office, which indicated that the wealthy financier committed suicide while he awaited trial on sex trafficking allegations.
"In my opinion, the cause of his death is more likely attributable to strangulation rather than hanging," stated Dr. Baden, who was appointed by Epstein’s estate.
He added, "With the array of information now available, it is imperative to conduct further inquiry into the cause and manner of death."
Although Dr. Baden did not perform the autopsy, he observed the procedure on behalf of Epstein's family.
"At the time of the autopsy done by the medical examiner, we both concurred that more information was needed to ascertain the cause and circumstances of death based on the autopsy report and available data," he noted.
The debate over Epstein's death has intensified following the release of over three million documents by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), raising additional questions about the nature of his death.
Among these documents is previously unpublicized footage capturing the moment prison guards discovered Epstein's body.
The video footage shows a prison guard approaching a desk near Epstein's cell at 6:30 AM on the day he died, with the guard heading to the cell just ten seconds later. In the following minute, the same guard, followed by two others, can be seen repeatedly moving between the security desk and Epstein's cell area.
Eventually, the guards are seen sprinting between the two locations. Epstein was officially pronounced dead at 6:39 AM, abruptly ending one of the most monitored federal criminal cases in recent history.
However, according to newly disclosed records, investigators observed an orange figure moving up the staircase toward Epstein's cell on the night of his death.
The FBI and the DOJ's Office of the Inspector General (OIG) flagged suspicious CCTV footage, suspecting it may show an inmate approaching the tier where the notorious paedophile was detained.
A report from the OIG indicated that at 10:39 PM on August 9, 2019, FBI agents noted, "a flash of orange appears to be ascending the L Tier stairs - possibly an inmate being escorted up to that tier."
Further documents indicate that authorities were at odds regarding the unexplained 'orange flash' captured on video.
