Dr. Mathias Byuan, a prominent candidate from the All Progressives Congress (APC) seeking the governorship role in Benue State, has clarified his attendance at a recent meeting held by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday. He emphasized that the gathering was organized by a political faction aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration.
Byuan, who serves as the Executive Director of Housing, Finance, and Accounts at the Federal Housing Authority, provided this clarification amidst questions regarding his presence at the residence of former Benue State governor Samuel Ortom. Reports indicated that a pro-Tinubu group convened at this location to rally support for the president's re-election bid.
In a statement released yesterday, Byuan remarked that as a beneficiary of the Tinubu administration and due to the trust placed in him by the president, it is his responsibility to associate with and back any political party or organization that genuinely aims to bolster support for the president’s re- election effort.
He also articulated that his involvement with such groups should not be misunderstood, arguing that his primary focus is on fostering collaborations that advance the policies and ambitions of the Tinubu administration.
Byuan stressed that as a presidential appointee from Benue State, it is imperative for him to support any group or political party that is actively working to promote the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Additionally, he expressed his openness to engaging with various organizations, associations, and political parties willing to work together to enhance the Renewed Hope Agenda and back the president’s re-election campaign.
