The Council of Awujale Kingmakers has officially canceled the previously scheduled meet-and-greet event with Awujale nominees that was set to take place at the Aafin Awujale. Instead of this gathering, all nominees have been instructed to report to the Department of State Services (DSS) office in Ijebu-Ode for further guidance.

A formal notification dated January 20, 2026, was sent to Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, along with his deputy, Otunba Dokun Ajidagba, and the Vice Chairman, Prof. Fassy Yusuf, detailing the abrupt alteration in plans. The committee explained that the decision to redirect the nominees to the DSS facility negated the necessity for the earlier planned meeting at the Aafin Awujale.

DSS office instructions for Awujale nominees

The correspondence indicated that all Awujale nominees are expected to present themselves at the DSS office located along NTA Road, adjacent to the State Psychiatric Hospital, off Igbeba Road, Ijebu-Ode, at exactly 11:00 am on Wednesday. The letter highlights the requirement for strict compliance and punctuality, stressing the importance of following official orders.

The council conveyed regret over any inconvenience caused by the cancellation, stating that the decision was made in keeping with security and administrative measures. The notice was signed by Chief Ayotunde Ola Odulaja, the Secretary of the Awujale Afobaje Council, who urged all relevant parties to fully adhere to the instructions provided.

In accordance with the directive, all nominees and involved stakeholders are expected to comply promptly, ensuring they report on time without delay. The council reiterated its gratitude for everyone’s cooperation and understanding amid these administrative changes.
