Fabian Nwaora, who serves as the CEO of EFAB Properties Limited, was absent from court last Monday when he was set to be arraigned at an Abuja High Court on serious accusations of forgery and identity fraud.

Nwaora, a significant player in Abuja's real estate market, is facing seven criminal charges brought forth by the Inspector General of Police. These charges accuse him of falsifying official documents, altering corporate records, and manipulating identity credentials.

His failure to attend the court session brought the judicial proceedings to a halt.

During the Monday session, defense attorney Ezekiel Egbo informed the court that his client could not make it due to receiving the charges on Friday around 3:00 p.m., which he described as insufficient time to prepare.

The prosecution, represented by Eba Favour, who was stepping in for lead counsel Wisdom Madaki, asked the court for a new date for the arraignment.

Justice Aliyu Shafa approved the request and adjourned the case until March 16, underscoring the court's commitment to ensuring justice.

However, this postponement has only drawn more public attention to the serious allegations against Nwaora, especially given his high-profile status.

According to the police charge identified as FHC/HC/CR/748/2025, investigations claim that Nwaora forged an international passport, numbered A01646675, in the name of Kenneth Chinedu Ogbogu.

The passport was allegedly issued by the Nigeria Immigration Service on April 5, 2024. Investigators maintain that this document was fabricated and used by Nwaora as if it were legitimate.

Furthermore, authorities allege that Nwaora knowingly utilized the forged passport in official transactions, constituting a criminal offense under Nigerian law.

Additionally, the police charge accuses Nwaora of fabricating corporate documents related to a company named Keneco Investment Ltd, which has a registration number of 619680.

The prosecution's claims include:

\- A certification of incorporation allegedly falsified to include the signature of Registrar General A. Almustapha.

\- A fabricated company letterhead presented as if it were genuine.

\- A forged National Identity Number (NIN) that was supposedly issued by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

These alleged actions violate Sections 362, 364, and 366 of the Penal Code, which address forgery, fraudulent misrepresentation, and the use of forged documents, all of which carry severe penalties if proven in court.

The criminal accusations against the EFAB chief occur amid ongoing controversies concerning the company's real estate dealings in Abuja, with environmental regulators previously taking action against EFAB's developments.

Over the years, EFAB Properties has presented itself as one of the premier real estate developers in Abuja, marketing luxurious estates and upscale residential communities in the Federal Capital Territory.

However, the increasing number of legal challenges, regulatory actions, and now criminal accusations against its CEO could severely tarnish that image. Experts in corporate governance point out that this situation reveals broader issues within Nigeria’s property sector, where rapid expansion and unclear documentation often clash with legal regulations.

All attention is now directed towards March 16, when the Abuja High Court is anticipated to reconvene for the formal arraignment of Fabian Nwaora.
