The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has expressed his joy alongside Muslims across Nigeria in celebrating the successful conclusion of the Ramadan Fast, emphasizing the need for ongoing prayers for global peace.
The Sultanate Council has announced that Friday, March 20, 2026, will be recognized as the first day of Shawwal 1447AH, which officially marks the end of the Ramadan fasting period.
In a statement made through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau offered prayers to Allah SWT to accept the supplications, prayers, and good deeds performed by the Ummah during this sacred month.
He urged the Muslim Ummah to hold on to the lessons learned throughout the Holy Month and to implement them in their daily lives, as instructed by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Senator Barau also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his tireless efforts aimed at stabilizing Nigeria’s economy through various reforms and policy interventions.
Additionally, he acknowledged President Tinubu's proactive stance against insurgency and banditry, stating that it is crucial for everyone to continue providing the necessary support for these efforts.
He expressed hope that President Tinubu’s order for security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri, in response to recent terrorist attacks, would aid in eradicating criminal elements from the region.
According to Barau, the 2026 budget currently under consideration in the National Assembly will significantly contribute to addressing the country's infrastructure deficits and various other challenges.
While wishing all Muslims a joyous and peaceful festive period, Senator Barau encouraged them to share love and assist those in need throughout and beyond the celebration.
“Praise be to Allah SWT for the successful completion of this year’s Ramadan, 1447AH. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to fellow Muslims throughout the nation. This time is for joy and gratitude to our Almighty Allah. Let us spread love and support the needy during this festive season,” he stated.
