A former veterinarian has received a sentence of close to 24 years in prison for drugging and sexually abusing young boys at summer camps in the United Kingdom. Jon Ruben, aged 76, was identified in court as having exploited 'the cloak of Christianity' to prey on vulnerable children.
Leicester Crown Court was informed that Ruben, described by his spouse as a 'sadistic, monstrous paedophile,' was sentenced to 23 years and 10 months. Judge Timothy Spencer KC emphasized that Ruben would also be subject to an extended license period, resulting in a cumulative sentence of 31 years and eight months.
Ruben had earlier admitted to numerous offenses, including the sexual assault of a child under 13, assault of a child under 13 through penetration, eight charges of child cruelty, three counts involving the creation of indecent images of children, and four drug-related charges.
During the sentencing proceedings on Friday, Judge Spencer remarked to Ruben, 'Ultimately, this case is about you achieving sexual gratification by pursuing your sexual fantasies focused on young boys through meticulous, calculated, and chilling preparation and manipulation.'
The case revolved around the exploitation of boys at summer camps, where Ruben manipulated his role and utilized drugs to facilitate the heinous acts.
