Explosion at Islamabad Mosque Claims 15 Lives, Nearly 100 Injured

A powerful blast in a mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Friday has tragically led to the deaths of at least 15 individuals and injured nearly 100 others, according to emergency services and local officials.

The explosion took place in the Tarlai area during Friday prayers at a crowded Shia mosque. Emergency responders, including police and Rescue 1122 teams, swiftly arrived to initiate rescue efforts, transporting the injured to medical facilities in the vicinity.

Local authorities confirmed that 15 people lost their lives due to the explosion, and reports indicate that the number of injured individuals taken to various hospitals has surpassed 80.

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, expressed strong condemnation of the attack, extending his condolences to the victims' families. His sentiments were echoed by the Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, who called for comprehensive medical treatment for those wounded, emphasizing their transportation to hospitals throughout the capital.

As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, there is anticipation that attention may shift to militant organizations, such as the Pakistani Taliban or the Islamic State, both of whom have been associated with past assaults on Shiite worshippers, a minority community in Pakistan.
