Authorities in Fairfax, Virginia, reported a horrifying incident where a father, identified as 54-year-old Chhatra Thapa, allegedly killed his wife and daughter in a violent stabbing attack. The rampage occurred early Monday, February 23rd, inside the family's residence.
Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis described the scene as extremely brutal, stating that the level of violence inflicted by the suspect on his own family was beyond comprehension. Officers were dispatched to the home following reports of a domestic disturbance around 5 a.m. and encountered Thapa in the midst of an attack.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found Thapa's wife, 52-year-old Binda Thapa, and their 33-year-old daughter, Mamta Thapa, with numerous stab wounds. The situation escalated rapidly as officers discovered Thapa was actively assaulting his son-in-law with the weapon when they entered.
Police reported that they instructed Thapa to drop the weapon multiple times, but he refused. Officers then discharged their firearms, resulting in Thapa's death at the scene. The weapon, described as a large, blood-covered curved dagger, was recovered next to his body.
Binda and Mamta Thapa were transported to a local hospital where they were later pronounced deceased. The son-in-law, who was also severely injured, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Remarkably, the suspect’s 1-year-old grandson was present in the house during the horrific events but was found unharmed. Officials have not yet released information regarding the motive behind the violent outburst.
The son-in-law reportedly told police that he had been outside clearing snow when he heard disturbances from within the house. He rushed inside to find his wife had been attacked and subsequently called emergency services.
