has announced that its troops made significant strides in military operations throughout February.

Statistics revealed by the Defence Media Operations on Sunday indicate that during this period, 354 individuals associated with terrorism, criminal activities, and illegal mining were apprehended.

Furthermore, the military stated that 409 hostages who had been kidnapped were successfully rescued in various operations across the nation.

In efforts to combat crude oil theft and associated offenses, the troops dismantled 32 illegal refining locations and seized a total of 144,050 litres of crude oil along with 31,601 litres of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).

Additionally, security operatives recovered a substantial amount of N2.4 million (N2,440,000) in cash during their operations.

The Nigerian military has established multiple joint task forces to intensify their campaign against terrorism and banditry across the country.

In the North-east region, troops from Operation Hadin Kai are actively confronting insurgents who continue to disrupt peace and stability in areas such as Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states. Recently, these forces intercepted a terrorist courier and recovered armed drones.

In the North-central region, troops engaged in Operation Whirl Stroke are addressing communal conflicts, banditry, and violence often linked to disputes between farmers and herders. This force encompasses three areas: Benue, Nasarawa, and Taraba.

As of early 2026, operations have intensified, particularly with the eradication of terror hideouts in Takum and Wukari regions of Taraba State.

Simultaneously, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma are working to reduce violence in the North-western region, which is plagued by numerous bandit groups exploiting poorly governed communities.
